Each year, the Philippine Independence Day Council, along with member groups and associations, lead the Filipino community in the GTA in marking the commemoration of the Philippines’ Independence.

The Independence Day Ball marks the start of a series of activities all around the GTA, all to honour the Philippines’ birth as a nation.

The Ball celebrates the gathering of Filipino expats in the GTA, leaders representing Filipino-Canadian associations as well as invited dignitaries representing the Philippine and Canadian governments as expression of solidarity with the Filipino people all over the world.

PIDC, as umbrella organization, adheres to its mission to commemorate the Philippines Independence Day every year;  hence, its role as main host of the Ball.

This year’s  PIDC  GALA is a double treat as it is combined with the DANCING TO BE A STAR event. The Board have decided to have the Dancing to be a Star together with our Gala, where dancing afficionados show off their talents through competition but it’s not just all about winning, it is more about having fun and supporting charitable projects by PIDC as well as organizing big events throughout the year for the satisfaction of the Canadian-Filipino community.
