“Salu-salo sa Earl Bales” Community Picnic

The Philippine Independence Day Council invites each Filipino-Canadian to the annual, fun-filled Salu-Salo Sa Earl Bales Community Picnic to celebrate the 111th Anniversary of the Founding of Our Republic and the Birth of our National Hero, Dr Jose Rizal.

It’s a family affair!  Malugod po naming inaanyayahan ang lahat ng ating mga Kapuso at Kapamilya na dumalo at sumali sa kasiyahan at pagdiriwang ng kaarawan ng ating Kalayaan.

Exciting and NEW events are planned for the day:

PASIKLABAN Fiesta time!  Who’s got the best-tasting regional recipe contest.

BALUT RACE An egg-on-spoon race – Filipino style!
It’s also a win-win contest! Winners receive medals and can brag about their balancing skills, while Non-winners will get to eat their tasty  Balut (cooked large duck eggs) too.  Provided courtesy of PIDC  Picnic sponsors    Medals will be awarded.

WATERMELON CHOMPING and APPLE BITING contests. Of course, games for kids are  planned such as the watermelon contest, and apple biting contest. Numerous Raffle prizes for young and old, courtesy of our Picnic sponsor, are to be won this day.

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT CUP. The Annual PIDC Volleyball Tournament Cup is once again at stake.   CALLING ALL POWERHOUSE VOLLEYBALL TEAMS, especially from Fil-Canadian Youths (“ Ang Kabataan ang Pagasa ng Bayan”) to register early their intent to participate by email: pmauricio@sympatico.ca or/calling any of the Picnic contact persons mentioned above. Medals and trophies are ready for the champion and runner-ups.

WE NEED YOU!

CALLING ALL ASSOCIATIONS TO GEAR UP FOR THIS NEW AND EXCITING CONTEST!   Official food-taster-judges will visit each Regional Organization present at the Picnic to judge their best food recipe.  This is as close as we can get to a genuine Pista Sa Bayan Ko as presented by  all Associations under the PIDC umbrella.  PIDC Trophy and medals await the winners.

CALLING OUR FIL-CANADIAN YOUTHS

Bring your Youth/Student Associations/Groups to participate actively in the Picnic as well as PIDC Events and Projects. As an extension of The State of the Filipino Union bring a spirit of unity and empowerment. We need you! Roll up your sleeves and link arms with PIDC and other Organizations with social consciousness to make a real difference in the lives of our Kababayans.  To commemorate our Independence Day, Dr Rizal’s birth anniversary, and as a sign of PIDC support,  the PIDC gives you the stage at the Picnic to announce your next action plan of active involvement on issues affecting the Filipino-Canadian society. Be at the vanguard of the Struggle. Your voice is as strong. This is your opportunity to be heard loudly.

CALLING ALL BUSINESS ENTERPRISES

The picnic is an excellent business opportunity for all enterprises to reach the third largest ethnic community in the GTA.  Business Exhibitor covered booths at the Picnic are still available for a nominal fee of only $200. Rumour has it that winners of the exciting Seniors Karaoke Contest will prove they are the best of the lot with their Magic Mike by performing their signature songs at centre stage at a scheduled time. Don’t worry, we’ve banned singing “My Way” (LOL. Sorry My Way fans).  It will definitely be a howling goodtime for every karaoke fan.
